Jon Television - Roles Reversed

Inspired by Sean Penn's classical masterpiece "Into The Wild", this film is about the essence of mountain biking. Don't give your entire $24.000 savings account to charity, abandon all your possessions and hitchhike to Alaska without telling anyone, but for the love of God, don't waste all of your precious time fighting over wheel-sizes, strange marketing moves or economic materialism. Make sure most if it is time well spent: on your bike, in the wild.

The first round of the 2012 MTBNZ DH Nationals has arrived in Queenstown. The brand new Remarks Grass Track invites the riders to a fast, loose and ridicolously dusty visit and racing mode is officially on in New Zealand. Jon Television brings you the whole experience - from the initial thoughts of designing the track to the final showdown on the finish line and a much-needed swim after a weekend of intense sun.

Finding the balance between work and your personal life is a never-ending trade-off. In my case; that balance is between making films and riding my bike. The state of perfect balance is when they both converge; when I get the chance to combine both riding and filming at the same time. Since me and Philip Lundman share this view upon bikes and cameras, we've have had the idea of making another film together on that theme for quite some time now. We finally found some time to make it happen....

Every devoted mountain biker strives to travel the world, explore new locations, and experience the finest of singletrack. However, riding the same trails that you’ve done for years and years might be equally exciting. Maybe it’s because nothing seems to change, the revival of old memories, or just the trails themselves. Nonetheless, it is hard to beat the feeling of returning home and ripping familiar terrain. The local hills and the nearby bike parks have made Jon Bokrantz to the rider...

My winning entry for the Through the Lens film competition during the 2012 Queenstown Bike Festival, presented by DTR New Zealand. The six months that I've spent in Queenstown has been nothing shorter than amazing. This place has not just some of the best riding in the world but also a booming bike scene and extraordinary people. This video is an homage to all of Queenstown - a best of the best from an amazing summer. Thanks for all the memories, I can't thank you enough!

The massive variety of trails around Queenstown is one of the things that makes this place so special. Jon Television teamed up with the french bad ass Maxime Bruneau and headed out for a mission to show you what QT trails are all about.
