The LAAX OPEN 2017 continued today under blue skies and a picture-perfect winter scenery. Today’s center of attention was the perfectly prepared and creative Slopestyle course consisting of 6 features. The best 24 men and 12 women from yesterday’s qualification were competing for a spot for Friday’s Slopestyle finals.

The men started first and showed their skills in two runs, with the best run counting. The Canadian dominance in yesterday’s qualification continued today with all seven (!) Canadian riders making it into the finals, with Sebastien Toutant winning Semi-Finals today with a top score of 85.48 points. His top run included a cab 1260 nose, a frontside 1080 mute and a backside triple 14 indy on the kicker line. Looks like an all-Canadian podium like last year could become reality again on Friday. The Scandinavian riders like Sven Thorgren (SWE) and Marcus Kleveland (NOR) will challenge them in the finals. And also host country Switzerland will be represented in the finals by Moritz Thoenen, who ended up 10th today.

Women’s Semi-Finals started straight after the Men’s, 12 ladies were trying to grab one of the six spots for the Finals. Enni Rukajärvi from Finland landed on the top spot today, with an impressive run, which earned her 84.51 points. On the kicker line she threw down a frontside 710 tailgrab, backside 540 stale and a cab 720 indy.
