In January 2017, Julien Colonge, Sébastien Varlet, Loïc Burri and Pierre Houillon headed to Nagano region, deep into the island of Honshu, Japan.
The arrival was quite disappointing: it's pouring! Indeed Japan had been affected by new meteorological phenomena called Pineapple Express. Fortunately for us, things quickly went back to normal, and more than 2m50 of Japow fell from the sky in about 8 days. Enough to get drowned in powder whilst thinking a lot about Pierre Colonge.

We are back in Switzerland, in Verbier / Le Chable, for our very first heliski session!
Down at the heliport, we couldn't see much, a nice sea of clouds overcasted the whole valley.
Quite disappointing. But after a few minutes, the sun came through, and it was ON.

Since the beginning of the season, we were green with envy watching all the pictures and videos from Japan, where snow conditions looked amazing. We then decided to go there as well, but our bank advisors said no.
Our disappointment didn't last for long, as Japan itself decided to come and visit us on the first week of February 2015. With more than 1m50 of fresh snow on the resorts of the Portes du Soleil in Haute-Savoie, we finally turned our dream of skiing in Japan into reality.

New snowfall means new episode for Ubac Images!
For this 3rd episode, we travelled to Austria, more precisely the resort of Sankt Anton am Arlberg. This place is well-known for freeriding, and we were eager to verify it by ourselves.
On the first day, the weather was splendid, the couloirs looked amazing, but that was just a huge trap: 30cm of fresh snow on nothing but abrasive rocks... But after looking around a bit, we found some nice lines!

Today is a great day of winter 2015!!!
Not only it is dumping, but above all it is the release of the second episode of Ubac Images!
Initially, the idea was for Pierre and Julien to climb the Roc d'Enfer and to ride down a nice couloir.
Unfortunately, conditions were more suitable for snow-kite than freeriding, and snow accumulations looked very unstable.
Change of plans, let's go to Verbier, where Seb greeted us with a good 20cm of fresh snow.

Cette année, pas d'épisodes Ubac Images à proprement parler, mais des vidéos plus courtes, sans voix off, sans scénario. Juste de belles images de montagnes, avec à chaque fois un crew différent, dans un endroit différent.
Pour cette fois, direction les Pyrénées-Atlantiques, au-dessus de la station de Gourette en compagnie de Julien Colonge, Jean-Mi Gouadain et Yvan Chaberty pour réaliser une des classiques du coin (couloir de Pène Blanque, Arre Sourins, Sanctus).

En septembre 2016, Pierre et Julien Colonge, fondateurs de l'association Ubac Images, partaient au Chili avec pour objectif de grimper et de skier 18 volcans au sud du pays. Après 8 volcans, Pierre fit une chute mortelle en grimpant le volcan Villarica.
En septembre 2017, Julien décide de repartir et terminer ce projet en compagnie d’Anthony Calvet, le meilleur ami de Pierre. Même si la montagne comporte des risques, la mort d’un frère ou d’un ami est un événement tragique.

In September 2016, Pierre and Julien Colonge, founders of the Ubac Images association, travelled to Chile with objective of climbing and skiing on 18 volcanoes in the South of the country. After summiting 8 volcanoes, Pierre had a deadly fall whilst cilmbing the Villarrica.
In September 2017, Julien teamed up with Anthony Calvet, Pierre's best friend, in order to go back and finish this project. Mountains are a risky environment, but the loss of a brother and a friedn is a truly dramatic...

Au mois d'août 2016, les frères Pierre et Julien Colonge de l'association Ubac Images partaient au Chili avec pour objectif de gravir et skier 18 volcans dans le sud de la Cordillère des Andes.
