Top Seeds dominate opening round.
The first day of the event waiting period saw round 1 of the SWATCH GIRLS PRO CHINA 2012 hosted by Wanning completed in 1-2ft (waist high) surf at Riyuewan Bay, Hainan Island. With the small swell pulses offering contestable if tricky conditions for the world’s finest women longboard surfers, the top seeds were in the ascendency posting some solid scores throughout the morning, and while conditions went from clean offshores to moderate sea breezes, the scoring potential diminished little.

Reigning event and ASP Women's World Longboard Champion Kelia Moniz got her title defense off to a good start to advance automatically to Round 3 on the opening day. Another fascinating day full of longboard surfing went down at Riyue Bay today as a strong swell continued to bless the contest on Day 2. Chelsea Williams was the stand-out performer, despite admitting feeling she had more left in the tank. Kelia Moniz, Karina Rozunko, Summer Romero, Miku Uemura, Jennifer Smith, Chloe Calmon and Justine Dupont also made into the Quarters.

In a repeat of last year's final, the biggest beach crowd of the week gathered to watch Kelia Moniz and Chelsea Wiliams go head-to-head in Riyue Bay for the final of the SWATCH GIRLS PRO CHINA 2013 hosted by Wanning. Kelia Moniz is the new ASP Women’s Longboard World Champion after winning the SWATCH GIRLS PRO China 2012 hosted by Wanning in 2-3ft (shoulder high) surf. In a repeat of last year’s final, Kelia faced off against Australia’s Chelsea Williams, the defending event champion, and promptly set about a commanding display of smooth, radical longboard surfing, mixing rail-to-rail lines and classic hang-ten moves to leave Chelsea needing a combination of scores (16.05 vs. 9.5).
