The 2011 TTR Burton New Zealand Open (BNZO) started off on a high note with the men’s and women’s Slopestyle semis finished and the pipe semis to come. The course and the pipe are both in perfect condition and it will be exciting to see what the world class riders will thrown down. Seppe Smits may come from a country with no mountains whatsoever, but this is not deterring him from chasing his dream of rising up the TTR rankings. Seppe grew up as a 'Fridge Kid', learning how to ride on Belgium's dry slopes before actually shredding a real mountain for the first time during 1999 in Gerlos, Austria. You would think growing up on dry slope limits the skill set of a young rider, however, Seppe can do it all and has proved this multiple times already.

Canadian rider, Mark McMorris, and American, Jamie Anderson, took the first 5Star Slopestyle titles of the 2011/12 TTR World Tour season at the 2011 Burton New Zealand Open. The slopestyle finals went down at Cardrona Alpine Resort with optimal weather conditions making for some great riding.  All riders who competed in slopestyle at the New Zealand Open have all earned ranking points towards both the TTR Slopestyle Tour Rankings and the TTR Overall Tour Ranking lists.
