iON the Barrel presented by Carlton Dry is a film coming out in November 2013 that celebrates the holy grail of surfing - the barrel. The film is a tribute to barrels, to some of the famous barrel waves and the surfers who pay homage paddling out each day seeking precious moments in the barrel. For this instalment of the Monthly Grind get ready for a preview of some of the favorite barrels bagged in Hawaii, Indonesia, Mexico, Tahiti and Australia.

It takes little time, little observation to understand why Mexico is such an attractive place for surfers: 3 to 6ft glassy open faces, barreling sections, warm water… It was no surprise when Gaspard Larsonneur told us about his trip over there.
Hailing from Quimper, France, the 19 year-old regular footer has been literally surfing every existing waves around the craggy coastline of Brittany, from the infamous La Torche all the way to the most remote and savagely protected secret spot.
