We were keen on trying out the Japanese powder. Therefore we flew to Hokkaido for 2 weeks. Our base camps were settled in Niseko and Asahidake, but when you are in Japan you need to remain flexible and follow the snow clouds. We experienced some resort skiing in Kokusai, Kiroro, Asahidake, Furano and put on the skins to climb Mt Yotei, Chisenanapuri and Mt Asahidake.

In January 2017, Julien Colonge, Sébastien Varlet, Loïc Burri and Pierre Houillon headed to Nagano region, deep into the island of Honshu, Japan.
The arrival was quite disappointing: it's pouring! Indeed Japan had been affected by new meteorological phenomena called Pineapple Express. Fortunately for us, things quickly went back to normal, and more than 2m50 of Japow fell from the sky in about 8 days. Enough to get drowned in powder whilst thinking a lot about Pierre Colonge.

We headed up to Japan for a month to film a snowscoot freeride video.
Chasing snow we crossed Japan, starting the trip in Hakuba we drove to Aomori then to Hokkaido and finished the adventure back to Hakuba !
Thanks to Jykk Snowscoot to make this project happened and everyone we met during this trip !

Felt Soul Media teamed up with Nick Waggoner and Yuki Miyazaki of Sweetgrass Productions in January 2012 to hunt the mythical Hokkaido Unicorn. The creature proved difficult to capture on film, so we just decided to do a little skiing.
Lots of love and high fives to Patagonia and the 5Point Film Festival for helping make this short possible.

February 2018, I finally decided to go skiing Japan, I've been wanting to go for years and now was the time to do so.
To make the most of it, me and my brother rented a
Campervan, which allowed us to tour the whole island depending on the snow falls from the previous day, epic trip!
If you liked the video and wish to ski the Hokkaido Island just like us, have a look at the full article at:
