Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Nendaz Backcountry Invitational is one of the most exciting events on the freeride calendar. This unique competition brings together some of the world’s top backcountry athletes, showcasing their incredible skills and creativity in untouched snow.
The Nendaz Backcountry Invitational 2025 promises to be an adrenaline-packed showcase of the world’s top freeride skiers, set against the stunning backdrop of Nendaz’s pristine alpine terrain. This exclusive, invitation-only event will see elite athletes tackle untouched powder, steep lines, and daring cliff drops, blending technical mastery with raw creativity. Spectators can expect heart-stopping performances as riders push the limits of what’s possible in backcountry freeriding.
Some of the best freeriders and freestylers on the international scene will be coming to Nendaz for this event. In the men's ski category, former world champion Leo Slemett (FRA) will have his work cut out to win the title against the new recruits to the Freeride World Tour, Frenchman Mathys Fornasier (representing Winter Activity) and Canadian Tiemo Rolshoven. American Alex Hackel (5th last year) and New Zealanders Nico Porteous and Lach Powell.
On the women's side, the level will also be very high with the presence in Nendaz of freestyle skiing champion and PyeongChang Olympic Games participant Lou Barin (FRA). She will be joined by Freeride World Tour Challenger riders Mila Delerue (FRA), Eva Battolla (SUI) and Astrid Cheylus (FRA). Swiss freestyle hopeful Nour El Khazen (SUI) will also be taking part.
