Some might say that Pyrenees are not real mountains… Anyway you’ll be judge, but we believe that at least we do real snowboard over there!

In March 2013, FK studio organized #sessionFK, a snowboard shoot with a taste of cinema. The pitch: a laser shaped booter in the heart of Pyrenees Regional Park, 3 Red Epic cameras and a cast of good riders.

In association with Les Angles ski resort, and the shapers from Snowpark Division , FK studio crew built a huge booter, in the Costa Verde area. A place they know well, for having shot there a sequence for Rip Curl Welcome Home in 2009, and scored an Onboard cover the same year, with Mathieu Justafré, also riding this last session.

It took four weeks with two snowcats, to build the set up in this remote natural terrain. Gathering all the snow spread around the combe, in order to shape the place so that the huge module would fit on it. The result: a 12 meters deep and 40 meters long snow platform, in which they literally carved a big air. And the least we can say is that it was maybe the most epic part of the session! When preparing the approach run with the winch machine, the driver faced some difficulties trying to avoid sliding down to the kicker… And that was before an avalanche covered entirely the 6 meters tall module!

Despite those difficulties, the session went on the 31st of March. Seth Hill and Aljosa Krivec arrived from a TTR comp in Andorra, soon joined by the local heroes Mathieu Justafré, Samuel Quelen and Hugo Torrens as well as Carles Torner, Miguel Moreno and Alex Martin. Seth Hill who spent most of the preview night enjoying the Total Fight closing party, was on for the first try. Initially he have had the occasion to taste the snow while checking the approach run, eventually spreading around all the gears contained in his back pack… That is when the Resort Security Manager asked “who the fuck is this guy, are you sure he got what it takes?” Which he proved (or not), 15 minutes later with a hell of an overshoot which led him straight down of the landing. Hopefully the guy is solid, and was able to go for another try, with a state of the art massive 360! That was it, the module was working, cameras and riders ready for 3 days shooting this video…

For this season, FK studio is working on another session, which will be held in two to three different spots, each with a massive set up. Stay tuned @ Facebook.com/fkstudio.eu.
