The quarterfinalists of the O’Neill Cold Water Classic are decided today in a solid 3 meter swell, light offshore winds and bright Tasmanian sunshine. Surfing’s young talents choose this moment in the wilds of Tasmania to make their mark. Jarrad tells us about the highlights of day 5. It’s a day of upsets and mayhem. Current World Number 2 Jordy Smith snaps his board in his heat and leaves Marco Giorgi (URY) the victory. Royden Bryson (ZAF) takes down Shaun Cansdell (AUS) and moves through to the quarterfinals. WCT surfer Chris Davidson (AUS) shows he’s no stranger to right handers and moves past James Woods (AUS). Jarrad’s heat of the day is Richard Christie (NZL) versus Gabriel Medina (BRA) with the Kiwi showing flair and eliminating Medina.
