Kamchatka! You lucky b*stard, Seb.
Legend had it that the numbers of grizzly bears outnumbered the local population...
Kamchatka is a 1200km peninsula, poking out into the Bering Sea, and until 1992 much of it was out of bounds to non-military personnel.
From a skier's or snowboarder's perspective, what makes it special is the chain of 200 volcanoes that stretch along its length - 29 of which are still active. Some of them offer 2000m descents, top to bottom, and in a good winter, you'll...

I shot for a quick ride in Courmayeur yesterday with fellow McNab Guide Seb Montaz.
It hasn't snowed since about 1 week now but the North Facing slopes have stayed cold and fresh and for those that don't mind putting in the effort there's plenty to have a go at.
We scored some great riding in the trees and picked up some not too bad footage but the light was a little flat as we were mostly hitting the shaded slopes.

The mountain provide a spectacular environment and to get the best from them one must kow the rules: here are some of the best tips you can get from Chamonix skiing and snowboarding specialists
The rules of engagement here are simple, you follow and respect the laws of nature, you learn from the environment around you and you heed the warning signs and guidance offered all around; and then you make your decisions based upon good judgement and common sense.

Chamonix off piste riding is all about good judgement and correct decision making:This Chamonix guides video will help you find your way !
Life in the mountain environment is not a very complicated one. For the most part there are many helpful signs to help guide your way and help you assess your surroundings. Most decisions here in the backcountry come down to a moderate amount of mountain awareness and a large dose of common sense.

This one film is special...it comes from the heart: The very first powder turns of the winter !
it represented a technical challenge for me: filmed, edited and on-lined during the same day, yesterday Tues 25th nov.
It represents a human story sharing the first significant day skiing of the season with my close friends Clément and Stéphane.
It represents a unique moment with the local Megève figure, Roger Mabboux who consciously helped us rehydatring during this ski tour.
Have Fun !
